I know canceling or rescheduling shows is a huge let down to alot of you guys who have made plans to go but I hope you can understand that it's sometimes impossible for us to get on stage and bring you our best show when we are sick or trying to recover for weeks on end.
It's never our intention to upset you guys it's just sometimes our bodies get run down after months of being on the road and a chance to have rest and medicine is the only way to fix it so we can come back and bring you a true BVB show.
It's really disheartening to see when some people say we have somehow "changed" because of this or whatever because I promise you that's not the case. Touring just takes a huge toll on your body and mind and sometimes no matter how hard you try to fight it your body just succumbs to fever and illness etc.
I just wanted to take a second to address this with you guys because you're all like my family and I thought you should hear it from me.
I will give you everything I can at all times. I swear.
I hope to be able to see you in Coppenhagen in a few days
~Andy
I tried to hold off from commenting about this. Fingers were crossed that Andy would recover by now, but, that's not the case. For the last two weeks Andy has been in really bad shape. He was diagnosed w/ a Type B flu virus and can't shake it. We tried to quarantine him from the rest of the band and let the flu run it's course, but, this particular flu strain just won't let go. Andy was supposed to fly back to EUROPE yesterday, but, he was still vomiting and couldn't deal with the 11 hour transcontinental flight. I exchanged a number of texts with him a short time ago and he's really bummed out. No one knew this at the time, but, it turns out that Andy had the flu bug when the band first traveled to Europe at the beginning of April. He thought it was a stomach virus and that it would pass. But, it just kept getting worse. Apparently, some of what he had was being passed on to his bandmates because the night BVB played in Madrid, Andy, Jake and Jinxx were ill. The very next night, after the Barcelona show, Andy saw a Doctor and found out the strain of flu virus he was carrying was highly contagious. By the time he was able to isolate himself from his band and crew, the flu virus had already spread throughout his entire body. All of us, including the band, have been hoping & wishing that Andy would recover in time for the Munich show, tomorrow. Unfortunately, that is not the case. In fact, Andy will not even be able to travel for a few more days, per Doctor's orders.
I have to admit that through all of this, Andy was both disappointed in and frustrated about what some of the fans were saying. He has been sicker than I've ever seen him and kept it a secret because he hoped to only miss a week and reschedule those shows. But, the angry and bitter tone he saw in the tweets from "fans" after BVB played a show where three of them were seriously ill..That hurt him more than anything the haters have ever said. When your own fans turn on you after you have criss crossed the globe to play for them, it causes you to pause and question why. I have never heard him utter a bad word about a fan, ever. No one loves and cares about the fans more than he does. NO ONE. But, tweets, FB updates, etc...he saw after Madrid show, and this past week's shows were canceled, hit him like a ton of bricks.
