Credit to Natalie for posting this on her tumblr! Here's the interview from Rocksound magazine. Interview:
Q: What sort of kid were you when growing up? A: “I was never the introverted, traditional goth kid growing up, but I was definitely different and weird. I never had a huge friendship group, but what I could do was perform and be funny. I could find my niche that way. I was always the outcast kid; I was never really that popular and girls never wanted to talk to me. My whole life I was confident I was going to be in not only a band but a popular band, who could help the kids who were like me, who felt like they were cast out from society whether it was because of what they listened to, what they wore, or anything else.” Q: What did your parents do for work? A: “My dad worked for the country as a litigator and a social worker, and my mom worked at the hospital. Where they always busy? They were around when we got home - my parents have worked full-time jobs my entire life, and they still do. They’re the hardest workers I’ve ever met. The most important thing my dad said to me was that rock stars aren’t gods, a lot of them came from modest upbringings like myself and worked their assess off until they had the ability to do what they wanted to do with their lives. Watching their work ethic inspired me a great deal. It was just the three of us growing up, and they are my best friends in the world.” Q: What did you enjoy in school? A: ” I didn’t really enjoy anything in school. I felt like what is was learning, I didn’t really need to know, and that I didn’t need to learn stuff that wasn’t applicable to my life. More than anything, I enjoyed being at home, building sets or costumes and writing songs. All that I really cared about was the idea of being in a band. The weird thing is that at 11 years old you can’t be taken seriously in a band, but if all you want to do is be in a band it puts you in a wierd catch-22-situation. You know that’s what you want to do but you don’t have the opportunity. I spent a lot of my life waiting for the opportunity to do what I do now.” Q: Did you feel older than you were? A: “I guess so, though I didn’t really have anything to compare it to. I felt like I was ready to do what the bands I looked up to were doing. I don’t like the idea of ‘old souls’ because I feel like anybody has the ability to become intelligent to a topic. To me, intelligence and the ability to communicate are things that come along with what you want to do. I couldn’t tell you about a complex algebra problem, but I could tell you about the history of Mötley Crüe. I learned things I knew were going to be applicable to my life and that I could use, rather than general knowledge. In the US, schools don’t care what kids are intrested in. I think every child knows what they want to do when they’re young [but] it’s the parents of those people, and the school system, all the stuff that’s pumped into their heads, that changes their minds. Fortunatley, I was never given the opportunity of settling, I was always told by my parents that I could do whatever I wanted to do. It was everyone else that told me that I couldn’t.” Q: That’s quite a blue-collar work ethic, to strive to reach the American dream… A: “If you want to be in a band and that’s all that you want to do in the world, you put in the work. There’s always the chance that you could crash and burn, but you have to work to become the person that you want to be. It’s about transcending the complacency in your life to get were you want to be. If you look at the image and theatrics of our band, these are all things that we chose because we enjoyed them, not because we though that they were going to sell or whatever. People will say that we dress a certain way because were trying to sell to a certain demographic, but we wouldn’t be doing interviews in full make-up if we didn’t enjoy it. We enjoy becoming other people by dressing up like we do. This means everything to us. Without Black Veil Brides there is no life for us.” Q: How often do you talk to your parents? A: “Every day. How much do I tell them? Everything. About the drink, drugs, girls? I don’t do drugs, but [I tell them about] the drink and girls, yeah. To me, it’s strange how little people tell their parents about their lives. I guess maybe that’s why I know I could never become an adicct. I have friends who are hardcore alcoholics or addicts and I don’t understad it. If I’m not enjoying something, why would I do it? To become a heroin addict… it takes a great deal of self-hatred tobecome that. I was raised [with my parents telling me], ‘If you’re going to do something, tell us about it, and don’t fuck up your life because of it’.” Q: How often do they come and see Black Veil Brides perform? A: “They try to come two or tree times a tour. I want to earn enough so they can stop working. They’ve given so much to me that I could never put a price tag on it. They’ve taken out a hundred mortgages on our house just to help the band buy our first van and, via that, I learned dedication. Every month I dedicate most of my paycheck to try and pay back my parents whay they gave to me. I think it’s important… if I can gain anything in my life, it’s to help out my family.” The news came out today that Black Veil Brides' headlining tour with Falling In Reverse, Drive A, and Aiden has been cancelled. The tour was supposed to go from November 10 to November 20. So far Ashley is the only member who has acknowledged the cancellation, by posting on twitter and facebook, "Sorry, its true that the Fall tour first part of Nov. w/ FIR, Aiden and Drive A, has been cancelled. I'll see you all on the A7X tour Nov 23 - Dec 17th. Much Love! ♥" Brock (Andy's dad) said that it is true, and that an official announcement will come from the band later today. So far, there is no information on refunds for people who have already bought tickets. This post will be updated as more news comes in, stay tuned.

In an issue of Revolver magazine, Andy talked about the meaning of his tattoos. You can see some in this picture. UPDATE: Thanks to the "Fuck yeah, Andy Biersack!" tumblr for posting the article! Here it is!
Black Veil Brides’ Frontman Andy Biersack may have constructed a perfectly disheveled Motley Crue-meets-Kiss stage look, but his approach to tattoos is far less calculated. “I don’t pay much attention, as you can see from all the random patchwork I’ve drunkenly got,” he says. “I’m not the guy with a bunch of great artwork. For me, it’s about little stories that convey times in my life. I’ll just continue to piece together what I can for the rest of my life, and see where that ends up.” 01. Skull & Heart - “This was my first tattoo, which I got for a girl I was dating when I was 15. It’s part of Alkaline Trio, part random shit… and part Hitler hair. I actually have no idea why it has Hitler hair. I only realized it looked like that years after I got it.” 02. Koala Bear - “I recently got this done on the road. It’s a koala bear dressed like me drinking Seagram’s 7 Crown whiskey, which is just pure silliness.” 03. Unfinished Batman - “I got this unfinished Batman tattoo in a Laundromat. We were on tour and a buddy of mine started talking about how he does tattoos. I was like. ‘Let’s do it.’ But there was nowhere to go except for a 24-hour Laundromat across from our hotel. We started at about 5 A.M. and worked until bus call later that day. It’s not a terrible tattoo either. It could get good.” 04. Inverted Cross - “I like both antireligious and traditional Catholic imagery. I’m not religious, but I understand the need for faith and hope. My inverted cross is a jarring image, and I like to leave its meaning up to interpretation. Plus, when I’m singing, my arm is up, so you can never really tell which way it’s facing.” 05. “BVB” Wings - “This was the first tattoo we all got together as a band, during our first headlining tour.” 06. Misfits and Danzig Skulls - “The Misfits skull was my second tattoo, and the Danzig was my third. I got [the latter] at a house party in some ghetto neighborhood in Cleveland with these crazy speed-freak meth heads that were blasting the worse kind of ICP [Insane Clown Posse] metal and drinking moonshine. I had a Danzig wallet and I wanted the logo, so the guy drew it up. And now it’s with me forever.” 07. Batman logo - “This makes me think of my family, because I had Batman stuff all over my house growing up.” 08. Azrael - “Azrael is the avenging angel [in the Batman: Knightfallseries] that came in when [the series’ villain] Bane broke Bruce Wayne’s back. My dad and I both have this tattoo: He has the older version of Azrael, I have the younger. It’s significant because when my dad was younger he played in bands until he injured his back.” 09. “FP” - “This is my shining star of tattoos. ‘FP’ stands for ‘front poop,’ and that’s what my dick and balls look like in the spandex pants I wear onstage. So basically FP is my tribute to my own dick and balls. My tour manager, who does my regular fornt-poop checks, came up with that name. He also has that tattoo, so he is paying tribute to them, too. The term is his - but the actual front poop is mine.” The People's Choice Awards are now up for voting and while Black Veil Brides isn't in any of the categories, we can nominate them! So go HERE and nominate our boys for categories like Best Band, Best Album, Best Music Video, etc! Let the world know that the BVB Army is in control!
There's a poll on the Revolver website asking "Who is the Hottest Dude in Hard Rock or Metal?" and Andy is up for the title! So go HERE to vote for him!
In other news, Bryan Stars launched a merch site on District Lines a while back, and he has added a "Secret British Accent Society" t-shirt! If you don't know what that is, go watch his 4th Black Veil Brides interview! The shirt is awesome and it's only $15! Get it HERE. There's a nice article up on Stereoboard about the "Halloween Heroes" of music, focusing on Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie but also including the Murderdolls and Black Veil Brides! It's a fascinating read and they've got nothing but good things to say about BVB so go check it out HERE! I love the line, "Agree or disagree, they will continue to take over the world one sell-out show at a time."
